We were all wowed by Source Filmmaker. Back before it was even officially launched people were making cool videos that we’d watch in wonder and awe. There came a resurgence after launch. Animators, mocap, film guys and gurus would play with it into the wee small hours and we’d all sit there happy as Larry, watching the results and wondering if we shouldn’t just take a crack at it ourselves. So much content exists for this now, we have a section of our YouTube site dedicated just to these SFM outpourings. After just a short time we’ve become just a touch desensitized to the levels of awesomeness that are possible and it takes something really special to grab our attention. Enter Randall Glass’s “Scout vs. Witch”.
Scout vs Witch: a tale of boy meets ghoul [SFM] from Randall Glass.
This, the latest SFM film to hit the limelight, pushes the boundaries back just a bit further. Combining Half-Life and Left4Dead with Team Fortress 2 Randall has created a video feast for our eyes. The sound track is involving, the playful antics heart-warming, the action stunning [no wonder with inspiration coming from films such as The Matrix and Samurai Showdown]. Located in Seattle, Randall is looking for work (should that be “LFT”?) I guess there may be a play in here to get Valve to see his work. After all what says “I know how to use your software” more than making something this cool with Valve’s own tools?
Randall’s work can be found on his website, Nailbiter.net and viewed on his vimeo page.
